In the coffee shop sits a young lady, alone.

In one hand is her coffee, in the other a book.

All around her people are drinking coffee or tea as well.

What’s different?

They are all submersed in their technological devices.

This young lady has immersed herself in imaginative worlds.

I sit, staring at her.

This is how the world used to be.

We take loved ones and friends for granted these days.

We are more concerned how many likes or comments we have on a post we made.

Or we worry about what others are posting on their social media sites.

Instead, we should be speaking more with one another, connecting like the old days.

As I sit here contemplating what I see in front of me,

The young lady looks at me from her book and smiles.

I look back at her and give her a nod of approval and admiration.

These moments make people second guess what they are accomplishing in life.

We should all take a moment and reflect on what, and who, is important.
