I fell in love

My world was amazing

I even became a stronger woman

As years went on, I fell more and more in love

I changed for the better

I loved him for that

However, what I didn’t notice…

I was also changing in other ways

I became stronger and smarter, yes

I also lost patience, kindness, and even a little of myself

I realized I became his life preserver

Constantly helping him battle his inner demons

And I myself became a little darker in the end

I never knew it

Until I became sick

Being told I need to make drastic changes to get better

I realized I had stopped taking care of myself

I was always so stressed and run down

I thought that is what everyone feels like and does in life

I always wondered how many others did much more than I

But always remained healthy and happy

Sometimes in order to be happy in your life

You have to make choices

Stop being foolish and stop saving everyone else

Save yourself first, because without you, everyone else will fall too

We can all help each other, but need to make sure we help ourselves first

Know that it is okay to say no once in a while
